Target Goals for the Domestic Violence Intervention Program

  • To explore the social paradigms attached to anger and domestic violence by understanding the systemic root causes of negative dynamics within an abusive relationship.
  • To help participants understand the connection between unfocused random anger and their impact on society, the family and relationships.
  • To teach participants coping skills and the negative effects of anger on relationships, individual stressors and triggers, and choosing new behaviors.
  • To focus on alternatives to violence through education and professional training that teach participants how to express anger, stress and frustration in a healthy way.
  • To encourage participants to utilize community resources that are available such as counseling, and crisis/trauma intervention.
  • To give participants different insights into their individual style of anger.
  • To emphasize the importance of effective communication in building and establishing healthy, positive-progressive relationships.
